THE WHOLE WOMAN

It didn’t happen all in a day, nor do I know how long it took to happen. I didn’t even notice it happened until I began sitting with myself and acknowledging my path. In my mind it still felt as if I was stuck. I became unstuck when I realized I wasn’t stuck. You would think, well that easy, if you’re stuck just become unstuck. That’s not rocket science!

Well for someone who is stuck, it is. I will not bore you with the details of my past trails but I will encourage you to spend time with me on my next path. We will enjoy the journey with pomp, fuss and color. I make no apologies. It’s the only way I know how.

Growing up on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago color is everywhere. It is how we live, our gardens are a sight for sore eyes. It is how we party and lime. Our mas and sense of style well represents our landscape. It is in our food. The yellow in our curry that ignites, the whole Sunday lunch plate with callalloo.

Pink poui in bloom

So therefore, color is part of our blood. Just as Mical Teja sang Soca in our DNA. As islanders, we boast of beaches and tropical weather year-round. We are also pleased to have poui trees blossom. As I’m writing this post, poui is in full bloom, pictured here. Where there is beauty, you will find me and there is beauty all around. There are beautiful people that I love to visit. I will share here interesting places that I have visited and will continue to visit. For some reason, though our country is small, a lot of people have not been exploring off the beaten path.

Salybia Beach

As for me, I’m trying to find friends throughout our twin island of Trinidad and Tobago that I can visit. I will share stories here. I will also share about my experiences as a mother, both to adult daughters and upper and lower age range teenagers, being single and loving the experience, taking care of my health, mostly in public institutions. I will use all the resources available to me from my country and I most certainly will continue to give back. I am inspired by the diverse beauty of my homeland and the pieces in my boutique reflect my experiences.

I will share my experiences as

A WHOLE WOMAN.
